Get Involved

Volunteers are the heart and soul of BCSIS. We treasure your contribution to this beautiful school, and we love to see you here. We are dependent upon the continued dedication of parents who volunteer their time, ideas, and money to keep the school thriving and strong.

Help at School Website
You can sign up for volunteer opportunities at BCSIS to help build and support our vibrant community of learners! There are lots of ways to help out. Many of our jobs won’t take too much of your time and can be pretty fun too!

Volunteering at BCSIS
Attention Classroom Volunteers: If you want to volunteer on a regular basis you need to complete the background check that BVSD requires. There is a background check fee. Please DO NOT let this requirement influence your decision to volunteer. If the cost of getting the background check is a financial hardship please contact the Volunteer Liaison to get more information about getting the costs covered.
Find more information about the background check here.

Volunteering in the Classroom
Teachers welcome parent support in the classroom. BCSIS encourages parents to assist teachers with educational activities and general support. Teachers are able to do so much more with additional adult help. Volunteering to assist in the classroom is a great way to get to know other kids and see BCSIS in action. Each classroom sets their own volunteering hours, so always check with your child’s teacher. Our expectation is for every BCSIS parent to volunteer 20 hours per year (approximately a half an hour per week).

Volunteering for School Events
The many events we have at the school are organized and made the responsibility of different grades. They include things such as vision screenings, school photos, festivals, etc. If you would like to volunteer for one of these events please contact your child’s classroom’s Ed Council Rep or Volunteer Liaison.

Volunteering at School Festivals
We always need help with our many festivals at BCSIS! We welcome your support!

  • Autumn Social-Come celebrate the change of the seasons with music and activities to be shared together with friends. This is an evening event that brings our whole school together. This event is put on by the 4th grade.
  • Winter Festival-This festival transforms and unifies the school while serving as our second largest fundraiser of the year. It includes a talent show, community meal, as well as the transformation of our school into a Winter Festival to be enjoyed by all!
  • Spiral Garden-Come celebrate as we bring our warm light into the darkness of winter. With story, song, and meditative reflection, our children will journey into the spiral where they will find a bowl of shiny crystals reflecting the light. The whole ceremony is done reverently, accompanied by the music of a single harp. This is a quiet time to reflect and honor each child in his or her journey. Our intent for this celebration of winter is to illuminate our inner light and radiate it outward into the world. To help create the mood of this special evening, please help the younger siblings sit quietly with you. Children as well as adults may want to come in festive or more formal attire. Please be prompt! At the end of the ceremony, please leave as quietly as possible to extend the mood out into the night. This event is put on by the 2nd grade.
  • Spring Carnival-Another celebration of the seasons. This event happens at the end of the school year and combines music, crafts and friends. Come and enjoy the beautiful weather, chat with friends and let your kids play. This event is put on by the kindergarten and 5th grade.

Please contact the volunteer liaison.
