For regular parent volunteers, we have great news! Lifetouch, a photography company, has offered to create personalized badges for any parent who has completed either the TCLogiq or fingerprint background check through the CBI. Once you have this badge, you can bypass the crazy office traffic and take the “Express Route” into the building (sign in over by the conference rooms and take the back door into the building – no picking up or returning a badge, because the personalized badge is YOURS!).

If you are interested in being a parent volunteer, BVSD has some strict guidelines for volunteering, and we want you to have this information as early as possible, so you can join us.

If you are an occasional volunteer in the school, without a regular schedule, involving only supervised or no contact with students, simply complete the Volunteer Application.

If you are volunteering on a regular basis, or chaperoning/driving on a field trip, you will need to complete an online background check at TClogiQ. Click here for more information about how to complete a background check. If you plan to DRIVE on a field trip, be sure you check off the “driver” option. The cost of this background check is $17.00, or $22.00 if you wish to be checked for driving, and is good until next July 1st. It takes approximately 2 full weeks to complete, so do this early. You don’t want to volunteer to chaperone or drive on a field trip, only to discover with two days to go that you aren’t cleared to help! This check needs to be done every year, so even if you just did it in May, you’ll have to do it again.

If you want to do a background check once and for all, and NEVER have to think about this again while your child is in the BVSD, you can go to get fingerprinted at a police station (check to see when they offer this service to the public), then take that card to the BVSD Legal Department at 6500 E. Arapahoe. They’ll have a quick form there for you to complete, and the cost is $40.00. It takes 3-4 months for this check to be completed through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, but it will save you a lot of money and time over the years. We encourage you to do this as early as possible in your student’s educational career. Get started right away on this one.

If you are in need of financial assistance to do a background check, please contact Andrea Tropf at 720-561-6504.

The bottom line – get started now on being cleared to volunteer! If you have any questions, please contact our registrar, Lisa Gefke at lisa.gefke@bvsd.org or contact BVSD’s provider at TCLogiQ at 877-825-6447.
