What makes BCSIS different?
What makes BCSIS different from other Boulder elementary schools? Explore the school’s approach to arts integration, hands-on learning, teacher looping, thoughtful technology use and community.
What Is Arts Integration?
Arts-integrated education weaves visual art, music, drama, dance, and creative expression into core subjects like math, science, and reading, so the arts become a vehicle for academic learning rather than a separate special. Far from being a "soft" approach, it's a research-based teaching method shown to strengthen comprehension, retention, and achievement. At BCSIS, this means your child experiences learning as active, joyful, and meaningful every day.
BCSIS is one of Boulder’s highest-performing elementary schools
BCSIS is one of Colorado’s highest-performing schools, earning 99.6% of available points on the 2026 School Performance Framework and tying for #4 statewide. See how BCSIS compares with other top BVSD schools—and why rankings are only part of the story.
Support the A.R.T.S. Fund
Donations to the ARTS fund provide immediate and meaningful impact to the experience of our students. Support for CGC comes from current families, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty, and friends. The ARTS fundraiser begins each year on July 1 and ends on June 30. Join our effort this year to ensure that BCSIS’s extraordinary faculty, staff and students have all the tools they need to explore and learn.
Classroom Supplies
We do school supplies differently at BCSIS. Rather than have families buy supplies individually, we ask that each student bring in a check made out to BCSIS for $85.00. This fee allows classroom teachers as well as our art and music teachers to purchase supplies in bulk, guaranteeing that each student has the same supplies throughout the year. We use high quality materials as beeswax crayons, professional quality watercolor paper, main lesson books, wool yarn, and science journals. These supplies have a longer classroom life and enrich our arts integrated curriculum.
